Hello
My name is Iz Varland, now a senior finishing my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Boise State University. As a supervisor in the Boise State College of Engineering machine shop (Engineering Innovation Studio), I train and certify students and faculty on safe and effective tool use. I also build personal projects in my free time, currently specializing in robotics and automated systems.
My Story

At the age of four I built my first project, a wooden go kart, with the help of my Dad. Four years later Dad helped me build my first robot, a little wooden lizard that wiggled across the ground using servos. Since those beginnings I've been designing and building progressively more complex projects. In high school I built one of my favorite independent projects, an electric go kart, named Red Rover, that can drive a track entirely autonomously.

It was an easy choice to attend Boise State as a mechanical engineering student. It is a major I had my eye on since the seventh grade.
